If you participated in HCRI stuttering therapy, join us on April 29-30, 2017 in Roanoke, Virginia for an enjoyable and productive retreat weekend. Come ready to sharpen your targets, spend time with the HCRI team, hear the latest HCRI developments, and reconnect with other HCRI alumni. Sessions, workshops and practice activities for this two-day event will be held at nearby Hollins University.



Saturday, April 29, 2017
Sign-in for attendees begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Dana Science Building on the Hollins University campus. The opening session begins at 9:00 a.m. where attendees will hear about projects underway at HCRI. Activities during the day will include target review, transfer opportunities, and computer practice sessions. For lunch (noon - 1:20 p.m.), you may go to one of the area restaurants that are located minutes from HCRI. The afternoon schedule includes practice sessions, alumni discussions and a presentation by Gerald R. McDermott, Ph.D. An HCRI alumnus, Dr. McDermott is Chair of Divinity at Beeson Divinity School. He wrote the book, Famous Stutterers, which highlights 12 famous people who achieved greatness while struggling with their speech impediment. 
Evening festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Moody Center at Hollins University where HCRI will host a buffet dinner for attendees and their guests.

Sunday morning activities begin at 9:00 a.m.at Hollins University. Topic presentations and workshops will be offered, along with "round robin" practice opportunities. All scheduled activities will wrap up at 1 p.m.
Registration and Conference Fees
Retreat participants who register by Monday, March 27, 2017 can take advantage of the early registration discount. The cost to attend the weekend event is $255 for HCRI alumni and $130 for each guest. After March 27, registration fees increase to $285 for HCRI alumni and $160 per guest. There is no charge for children ages 10 and under who are accompanying you over the weekend. You may register by completing and submitting the form below.
Where to Stay
You are responsible for booking and paying for your lodging. We have arranged special rates at the area hotels listed below. When you make reservations, call the hotel directly and request the "HCRI Annual Retreat" rates. Note that the special rates are not available online and only will be honored by the hotels through March 27, 2017. We encourage you to book your room early, as some hotels have limited availability.
