I’m eleven years old. When I was a small child I hated to go to school. I cried almost everyday before I went. The other kids teased me a lot because I stuttered. I went to Hollins and learned how to speak really well. Today I am going to school and I am going to read a story to my class. |

Near the end of
one session, a man who was in his early 50's came out of the office
crying. A staff member stopped him in the hallway and asked him what
was wrong. "Today is the 25th wedding anniversary for my wife
and me", he said. "I've never talked to her on the phone
before, but I just called and wished her a happy anniversary.
"For the
first time, I can talk without fear", wrote one man. "I
have always tried not to allow my impediment to hold me back in any
manner. Now I have attained a goal neither words nor money can express."
A girl who was in
the last week of the therapy program called her sister on the
telephone. Her sister did not recognize her. Finally, after a
considerable amount of talking on her part, she finally convinced her
sister who she was.
"I defended my doctoral dissertation and was fluent even though I WAS NERVOUS."
