FluencyNet
is a proprietary, computer-based fluency skills practice system
developed at HCRI for our clients to use at home or in the office.
The system validates and strengthens the use of the specific fluency
generating behaviors learned in our stuttering therapy program.
FluencyNet serves as a compliment to the Hollins Fluency
System, our intensive 12-day stuttering therapy program.
FluencyNet
is based upon the physical analysis of speech sounds as they are
being uttered. Our hardware and software provide real-time measures
of sounds, evaluate the sounds against standards for their
production, and immediately signal the results of the evaluation in
graphs plotted on the computer screen. When the onscreen graph shows
an accumulation of many green bars and few red bars, the speech
signals were judged to be mostly correct. On the other hand, when the
onscreen graph shows an accumulation of many red bars and few green
bars, the speech signals were judged to be outside the limits
necessary for the maintenance of fluent speech. |

Will
I Require FluencyNet When I Finish Therapy at HCRI?
Probably
not. The answer, however, depends upon your level of skill attained
in using fluency targets in your every day life. If you are like most
of our program graduates and you are solidly on target and are
experiencing few disfluencies, then you probably will not need
FluencyNet. If you are somewhat unstable with your use of
fluency skills, you may find that FluencyNet gives you the
boost you need to move to more stable use of fluency skills. The
essential point is that FluencyNet is always there in the event
you need it.
There
is an initial charge ($54.95) for the standard microphone
required for use with the FluencyNet software. The software
and first 30 day software subscription is free for HCRI Alumni.
If
after 30 days of use, you are satisfied with the benefits that you
have realized through the use of FluencyNet, you may wish to
continue your subscription. Short-, intermediate-, and long-term
subscriptions are available.>> Click
here to Subscribe<<
After
30 days of free use, you will need to begin a paid subscription to
continue using the software.
The
FluencyNet software is compatible only with a PC style of
computer with a 500 MHz or higher processor speed, with at least 128
MB of RAM, and running Windows XP, or 2000. A standard USB port is
also required to utilize the standard FluencyNet microphone.
Processor speeds of 700+ MHz and 256 MB of RAM or higher will exhibit
the greatest performance with FluencyNet.
There
is an ever-growing entire instruction and help section available to
help you install and use FluencyNet.
